He's the God of the Second Chance

In Blemished Honor, Christian Fiction Author Berta Coleman continues the drama-filled story of the Holloway family from her first book, Honor My Father...Really? The Holloways are now a blended family as Ranya finally connects with the son that no one in her family was made privy to. This occurred over 20 years ago. She didn't even tell her husband, Michael who is also dealing with issues from the past that he can't seem to get free of, but the author shows us how when husband and wife come together as one they can get it done. You'll know what I mean when you reach that scene...Sheer genius. I read it over a few times. It was that entertaining. The Holloway children have issues of their own. Michael and Ranya's college age son, Devin, is a Christian young man who is committed to living a life of purity with the love of his life, McKenna, but when life bears down on them, will they be able to maintain the commitment they've made to each other, their families and to God? Chai is Michael and Ranya's daughter and she is one character that I immediately fell in love with. Author Coleman's portrayal of this teenager is spot on, just as it was with the previous book when Devin was a teen. The author even had the insight to make their personalities true firstborn/second born, and sassy Ms. Chai truly possesses the characteristics of the "baby" of the family.
There is so much more I'd like to share, but I don't want to give away too much of the plot of either the first or second book. It's clear the author put her heart and soul into this book. Though this is a sequel to her first novel, there is no dragging through the sludge of a boring backstory; the plot is well-paced throughout. But most importantly the author taught us several spiritual life lessons, mini sermonettes acted out as if on the stage of life. This book is for everyone who needs to know that our God forgives. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12. If you missed Honor My Father...Really? Be sure to grab that book too. Both will bless you.

Outstanding...

I am typically not a fictional reader, however, once I picked this book up, it was difficult to put it down!! The characters and situations they encountered were extremely realistic and authentic. The descriptive writing allowed me to feel as though I was a spectator in every aspect of their lives. The author did an superb job grabbing the reader's attention and keeping it as I journeyed through their emotions. I must say this is an excellent book and I'm on edge for the next one!

Great job!

This is Berta's 2nd book about Ronya and clan and it was great! The story picked right up where it had left off previously, as if I had just finished the first book. I know and love Berta and can see her easily in the role of Ronya. I love the every day drama and life lessons the family learns together. I really love the constant reminders of God, His awesome love and mercy. Well done, Duckie! Can't wait for the Next one!!
