Currently the Director of the Canson Art Education program, Ed Brickler is a working experimental artist, and has been an art materials consultant for twenty-five years. Excellant!

This is one of the most comprehensive books on art materials ever written. Although there isn't a lot of text on each subject what is written is elequant and succinct. I work for a major art retailer and art materials are my business, I will be using this text as a resource for training my staff. I have spent years researching materials and there isn't much I can't answer there was a few nice snippets I can use when approached for specialist information that I couldn't express as well as I would have liked previously. This book is a real gem I wouldn't hesitate reccomending it. Definately 5 stars!

This book is a comprehensive and concise guide for materials and techniques, and a "go to" reference book for any artist. It provides detailed information about tools needed for creating your artwork and also information for each media:pencil,watercolor,oils,acrylic,mixed media, to name just a few. In addition, it has great visuals of art materials and complete samples of artwork, created with each media. This is a wonderful book for both beginners and advanced artists.

Beautiful performance

This is about the nicest performance you will ever hear of Suzuki Book 1. I am glad that I purchased the David Cerone version instead of the standard audio CD. I do think that the price is a little high for what you are getting (I am not sure why this CD is significantly more expensive than the sheet music). Also, FYI this CD is copyright protected. We did not plan to steal copies, but my 3-year-old likes to change CDs herself, sometimes leaving them on the floor and causing our teething infant to grab them and bite them (which of course scratches them)... anyway, I wanted to make a copy so that the original was not ruined in 3 minutes. That was not possible given the copyright protection. Overall, good purchase.

An absolute necessity for Suzuki students

I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old who have been taking violin for 2 1/2 years. (we lost our first CD, and had to purchase a new one) Listening to the Suzuki songs they are learning to play is an important part of helping them learn to play their songs. We listen to this CD almost daily, and now we get to listen to volume 2 as well. The songs are beautiful, and the quality of the recording sounds perfect to me. However, I really wish this CD included a violinist playing the songs at a slow 'practice' speed. That would be so helpful as they are first learning the song. You can look up songs played at a slower speed on youtube, but it would be so nice if they could just be included on the CD. If your child is taking Suzuki Violin, the CDs are an absolute must. Listening is a very important part of the Suzuki method. Good luck on your Suzuki Violin journey!!!

Far better than the Suzuki CD but a bit too fast

Far, far better than the CD that comes with some of the Suzuki books (which sounds like they played it on a synthesizer), this David Cerone CD is good for listening. It is a bit too fast in tempo for most students of that level to be able to play along. Beautiful & Tender Love Story!!

Debra Ullrick has done it again! I loved her first book "The Bride Who Wore Coveralls" and I absolutely loved this book, too!!
I was swept away in this wonderful love story from the first paragraph until the very last line. Debra's storytelling ablility is phenomenal. Each scene was described in such detail, I felt like I was actually in Paradise Haven, in the Idaho Territory. The story never slowed it's pace, it continued to build with each turn of the page.
Rainee Devonwood placed a "groom wanted" advertistment in hopes of escaping a terrible and life threatening fate. As soon as she receives a response from her future husband, Rainee flees for her life into unfamiliar territory.
Haydon Bowen's brother, Jessie, answers the ad in Haydon's name without Haydon's knowledge, until Jesse sends him to meet his future bride at the stagecoach stop. After the disaster of his first marriage, Haydon has NO intentions of marrying ever again. But Rainee quickly falls in love with Haydon and refuses to let him drive her away.
This book is a "must read" If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I most certainly would. I'm looking forward to reading Debra's next book.

Wonderful Romantic Novel

I couldn't put this novel down. The breath taking cover caught my eye right away but the story engulfed my heart and made me want to cheer this couple on and finish the book to find out what happens. I loved that Rainee felt like a real gal, not just some stuck up snobby woman but a woman you found yourself rooting for. The Unexpected Bride is a great historical romance. I hope there is a series in the works so we can follow this couple and the family further.

This mail-order bride story is a delightful read. Mrs. Ullrick created a story cocked full of emotions. The Unexpected Bride is a sweet romance full of action and adventure and a happily-ever-after ending. Did I mention, I laughed outloud? I did and think that you will too.

Naked is such a good movie; I could never praise it enough. So is it's script, naturally. Only in the script, you achieve an even greater experiece, since most of Mike leigh's genious lies in the depth of his dialogs. For those who find thie movie a life-altering experience like I do, to read the script is a must.

I wish my mom would've went through this with me.

Having been a follower of Luke and Trisha's blog I've watched with interest as they've released these books. The first in the series is for younger children and it left me thinking "what next?"

This book is next. The changes a child goes through in puberty are huge and even though it's a few years in the future I am already intimidated by the idea of my sons hitting puberty.

My husband isn't any more eager for it. We've both agreed that it's important to make body part words like penis, vulva, breasts etc common words and to not shame our children, but we weren't raised that way and have no clue how to go about talking with a child who is hitting puberty.
Like most kids we felt like that was "dirty talk" and didn't talk to our parents but other "bad kids" like us.

I am thrilled to have this book in my library. I've read through it and even though I think it could be a bit awkward, I can see myself reading through this with my sons. The language is simple, yet encourages discussion from your young teens. I honestly wish my mother would've had this to go through with me when I was going through puberty.

I love the biblical view here and the way God is glorified throughout the entire book. He made us with our unique and changing bodies and gave us sex as a gift one might say. I want my kids to realize that sex isn't a dirty word, but a "God word".

I recommend this for any parent who is feeling at loss on reaching out their their changing child.

A must-have for the Christian parent's home library

Changes is an extremely helpful book that guides parents and children in productive conversations about an often awkward topic. Instead of putting it off or diving in with too much too soon, parents can use Changes as a launching pad for ongoing conversation that is appropriate to their child's age and maturity level. I used it as a guide, reading it ahead of time so that I had the material in mind when conversations arose. When my kids get a little older, it can be a great script-like devotion or study. It includes scripture reading, discussion points, questions, prayer and more. Love that! The simple and natural approach provided in Changes, along with the focus on God's Word and marriage, makes it a must-have for any Christian parent's home library. (I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.)

Best sex ed. books on the market

As a mom of 15, I am always looking for simple and practical tools to teach my children everything they need to know in life. The Talk Changes is just that. This simple seven lesson handbook can help any parent successfully discuss the changes of puberty with their child. The thing I love the most about this book is that it is a Bible study. Every lesson is based on scripture and truth. I love the direct approach and the scientific data as well. This book is perfect for teaching your child one on one or it can be used as a family Bible study. I would recommend this book for every home. I can't wait until the final book in this series comes out in 2016.
